January 19 RC questionsWhat’s a 30 Amp Brushless /ESC/ ? The question is: is the B12 deficiency statement correct, or not? I intend to post the answer right here, after I found the time to research it. There's little point in asking my MD, because here (in Belgium), medicine is not practiced at the same high level as in the United States. I lived in Chicago in 1995 when my B12 deficiency was discovered during a routine check-up. Such a thing is unthinkable over here. That's all it takes to take a man down. And my words will echo in your heat for the rest of the day: man down, man down. Then a faint background noise moves to the foreground of your mind, and suddenly, clear as day, a police scanner produces the squeeky voice of a woman, the broadcaster sitting at the opposing end of the same desk that tapes your nine one one calls, and changes the subject ""code red"; all units; backup the undercover team at the crossing of first and Market."
Somezwhere, a deal has gone south in a hurry. Now; Max Pqyne had been taken down by the same people who were supposed to keep him alive. Familiarity breeds contempt, Aesops' fables, he muttered to the paramedics who were reading numbers into their shoulder microphone off an inflated couf they had slid over his right upper arm. Aesops" fables, he repeated; hoping to catch the attention of one of the two medics. Suddenly; their voice all loud and clear: BP ninety over seventy, obstructed breathing sounds, and a good; strong pulse. Sign here, please", one of the uniformed nurses spoke with a smile to the ER doctors on call.
Next, his eyes flooded with the bright lights of the operating theatre focus beams. One doctor fumbled while knotting his face mask. Then he raised both hands to the rubber gloves another nurse held out to him. The left nurse curtained the doctor's operating dress, and he wrapped himself in it as the right nurse held his magnifier)-fitted spectacles at just the right spot for him to take as he came out of the half-twist roll with his light green robe. "Check", the doctor said in a dry, clear voice to the aiding nurse with the spectacles, making eye contact with her; then "check"; again; now to the glove-nurse; making eye contact again: finally; "check"; while looking over his shoulder, his face mask concealing most of the cracked smile; and a wink of the eye you could only flash at someone you had been intimate with: Then his face went from smile to dead serious in the fraction of a second needed to assess Max Payne's slashed jugular. Okay all right; he muttered, almost to himself; as he took over the bandage from the last of the paramedics' hand, freeing him to "walk"; he said, releasing the paramedic's involvement.
"Now how in the world did you manage to get your throat slit, then, Payne," lifting smoothly his left arm holding a threaded fishhook with the smoothness of an old seamster; up and down and up and down again. "So this here:" closing up the wound;, "is the price of .." ending with a smooth knot: "democracy." Nobody except the U.S; Army's foot soldiers, ever paid the price for that, he said. Then he stood back from Payne. "The price of democracy, " and "God bless you all". "All of you out there; defending the faith and the good name of America."
Next thing Payne remembered was being stood up by a nurse to face the shiny smile of the United States President, who stitched up the Congressional Medal of Honour", decorating Payne's uniform as he uttered the only words he could come up with befitting an occasion like this: "thank you, Mister President:." Then they carted him off the scene into the backstage area where he and his nurse awaited the all-round applause of everyone in the room, briefly turning to face him, all of them smiling; all of them cheering.
Bright light flooded his eyes again. This time it was the camera's of a TV-crew. He pushed away the mike of the interviewer, who went off in lock with the cameraman. "This is the price America pays for democracy. This is Gill Heymes for CNN in Caracas; repoorting for you live; bringing you the news where you heard it first. This; she emphasised; is CNN."
Somewhere at the other end of the camera-to-action loop, at the receiving end; someone in a hotel room flipped the switch of a television-set, responing to the gestured instructions made by another silver-cross decorated serviceman; who folded his cell phone saying "call, listen, call me back on this; okay? Payne is out there, somezhere; alive and kicking, and you need him."
The caller sniffed in a breath of tropical heat air; looked over the patio, eye-checking his private protection staff. He put the phone down, and said to the rug,for noone to hear "yeah, like I'm dead in the water, is what you believe." And he ordered with a brazen, cracked smile his voice dried up with the words "aaye right then, time to folld. The deal is off. Payne is alive." The only woman in present company obliged the instruction by closing and zipping up the money suitcase. Half a second lqter she snapped to attention, lifting the case off the bed in the hotel room. A gorilla talked into an ear piece, the door to the hallway swung open, and he picked up the phone again; this time from inside the limo: "listen Jacq, I just sazw the nezws my self, Payne is alive, you hear? Alive and kicking. We need to come up with the contingency plan that will serve our needs; and we need to do this fast, while the coal is still hot, I mean." Then a pause. Listen; I expect to hear from you", and hung up. "Before we land at Jay Eff Kay," he added for noone to hear.
Meanzhwhile; all through and during this stage, people were busy creating the next moment, pruning and grafting whole branches of logic; pure as the gold, deciding to prepare their masters for whatever was going to be next. "And," sentor O Bama spoke into the microphone of a reporter outside the stepps at The Mall where he signed his book "Hillary Clinton's Inconvenient Truth", "There is no evidence," he enunciated, "that anyone working for me, " he sang, "was involved with The Clinton Coverup or how it was brought under the light of day." O Bama was ushered away into the presidential limo, and he stopped talking cold as soon as he made eye contact with The President, who took his time as the limo sped up cutting off one end of a Davidoff, and lighting the stick used to light up the cigar; said "all right then," as if addressing another party in his earpiece, then tuning into reality ".. have it your way, then;" puffing the cigar's rich odor into the limo cab. O Bama replied with shrewdness: ".. and what way would you mean by that, Mister President?", bouncing up and rising to the occasion, took a moment to chalk up some imaginary board, presented by the darkened wind shield, finally locking onto The President with the words "Life is a little blue light." Serious now. "May be one or two million dollar is zhat it would take to get the public eye to refocus, " then checking to see The President understood the next bit: "no, make that three, and I'll just be on my way."
The limo was ordered to a grinding halt, in the middle of nowhere by one flick too many of The President's cigar. Outside; in the cold distance, nothing alluded to the serious atmosphere inside the car. Creatures and critters of nature marked their own territories, either with beautiful sounds; or with flying colors. Then the muffled sounds of a gun going off, the limo's rear door clicked open, someone tossed a gun into the bushes near by, and the limo screetched back into high gear. February 27 The demons have gone ...... so as of right now (Wednesday, February 27th, 2008, 09:30) I am resurrected.
This is just a quick heads-up.
Taking into account all constraints I need to deal with, my purpose is to spend more time in "code-productivity mode". Maximize that theme, do this, I must. So bear with me for the next couple of days, and allow me to fine-tune just in what way, shape, or form I can be held accountable to perform. Then, based on these new findings, I will be able to more sensibly indicate my level of fitness to perform as the software architect I have been, under-stressing the hidden "has-been". Once I figure out how-to quickly write code using voice recognition, I should be able to build a personal productivity environment and find my niche at, for instance, rentacoder dot com. February 23 View my Public Calendar - Live!February 22 Flashback: forging speech
At my first programmer's job in the finance department of SIDMAR, a steel manufacturer, we had a goto-guy working with us, who took care of union business and whatnot. Anyhow, we used to have these after-lunch pauses where we'd drink coffee, eat Mars bars, and chat. For the life of me, I can't recall his name, but he was high-up in the food chain, being an established civil engineer with friends in high places. In 1987, he predicted that forging for instance, a speech by the President of the United States would become a real possibility, given enough processing power, and some ingenious software. That was 21 years ago, and today I found that software on the 'net: Face Puppet Animation Studio, with the silly but easily remembered commercial tag "CrazyTalk". If you have 4 minutes 20 seconds to spare, take a look at this video: Sci-Fi comes to life.

Checking out Windows Live Writer plug-ins, commenting along the way
Get Ready for Windows Live Alerts from my blog!I may need to remove this link a few times.
my download addictionYou would not believe just how much developer stuff I download from the net. my download addiction (encore)
Technorati Tags: download addict, shared downloads Surely I'm not the only software developer that gets carried away downloading sample code, articles, starter kits, sidebar gadgets, networking tools, etc. expecting to find, every once in a while, a piece of software or a program that addresses an issue or answers a question I didn't even realize existed. I will be using this blog to point to take orders for some compilation CD's or DVD's, offering several collections of 'nerd stuff' that truly makes a difference in the life of a software developer. The major drawback of spending hours on end hunting for good, practical software is that, unless you conclude your quest with either at least a summary, including or not including a personal rating; or burn a CD or DVD for easy sharing with fellow developers, the bulk gets so big you tend to no longer see the woods from the trees (if that's the proper proverb spelling). The major advantage and motivator to go hunt for valueable software is that not only you get to take home the merchandise, but more importantly what I see is an inspiration for me to create some software tools which I my self can put my signature under. For instance, the MSDN Reader project, I believe, is an excellent starting point for an application with similar functionality (publishing and accessing technical articles, resources), with a set of chat channels embedded: let's call those "pipelines". Such a tool would enable teams, from corporate and isolated groups to the great masses, some of which would like to keep their ear to the ground so not to miss out on crowdcasting. Developers could push and pop (technical) questions, post code (much like some Windows Live Writer Plug-in's allow you to), show off personal portfolios, etc. Chat pipelines, chat channels, chat rooms could be made self-organizing, where one post, once it's tagged, automatically appears translated, if necessary to adjacent or related pipelines, channels, or rooms. But that's "dreamware" right now, isn't it? To kick-start my 'download catalog' project, let me share the tree of all downloaded software, which is parked in a special folder from where they'll get recorded on DVD. At least it'll give you an idea of what's in store:
Then there's my downloads folder, which contains software that needs to be processed: install or trash. It's over 99% install, and practically nothing to trash, simply because I watch out carefully which information sources I use.
In due course I will find a way to keep this information up-to-date without requiring the efforts I just made. I feel like one of the key tools I am in need of is an automated cataloging system, one that uses a database for, well, storage, what else, and one which produces for instance web pages that directly allow anyone to access any particular file or any particular category of ready-to-use software on CD/DVD. This functionality should be an essential part of my "dreamware" project, the one similar to MSDN Reader. Which, in turn spontaneously redirects my focus to spend a couple hours doing what I do best: write software. February 17 NOW I'm on track: with 44 add-ins for Windows Live Writer I expect to be productive for a good long while.First, this list of add-ins I've collected:
AcronymsWLWPluginSetup.msi I'll end it here for now, 'cause this last all-nighter is about to put me in a horizontal position for a couple of hours. The following work week is packed, and I doubt if you should bother tuning in until next Saturday. Live of a developer. It's a passion, not a job, you know? January 27 EarMy previous post was a bit incomplete: here are the - what I think are amazing - 3D Live Tours for two trajectories: one for the members of the extended Meeuws family, and one for all the places I my self have lived and worked. 1. http://maps.live.com/?v=2&cid=D31D724A689F95DD!134&encType=1 For each of these, you will probably first need to install a plug-in for your browser, but that's hassle-free, and well worth is. Secondly, if the list of addresses does not automatically appear in the left margin, click in the upper right corner "Collections". Collection named "Familie Meeuws" is, like I said, our extended family. Collection named "Stefaan Meeuws Preiou..." is the long list of addresses I've had to move to in order to work as a software architect (for the highest bidder). As you'll see, if one intended to plan all of that in advance, it would probably never happen. So many places I've seen, so many people I've met, I can't begin to tell. Enjoy the 3D Tour around the Western Hemisphere! As of the next moment I'm taking my R/C helicopter for a spin to unwind, and then return to my home office and produce some Visual Studio 2008 C# code, so I get the right mind-set for tomorrow's day of work. I'm expecting to write some blog entries on the subject of what is a clever thing to do in Visual Studio, and what you should avoid. There is a TON of material (DVD's, Sample Projects, Source Code, Starter Kits, MSDN WebCasts lying in wait in front of me. So I really think I *do* need that break with my chopper. I'm hoping for no damage: but I practice in a dead-end section of a walk-through shopping center, so there's plenty of space, and no passers-by. Time to go. Enjoy those 3D Tours! The current addresses of the Meeuws familyMSFT Live Search Maps requires you to download some software, a "plug-in", for your browser to view the Earth in 3D, but the results are impressive, sometimes amazing.
As a professional "Software Architect" I used to work the highest bidder, and my history of personal addresses is truly a trip around the Western Hemisphere (the U.S., Europe, England). I must have entered a dozen or so "pin-pricks", one for each address that came across my mind. My guess is that my "History of Addresses" is about halfway done, and already it's worth just to get a feel of how much and how far I have travelled and relocated, chasing the big bucks. Favor me, and take that 3D Tour. And your comments are welcome. The current time is 0600, so technically it's Saturday, January 26th, 2008. I worked through the night. No rest for the wicked, right? This afternoon I'm invited at an astronomy observatory "AstroLAB IRIS" in Zillebeke, West-Flanders, Belgium. There's a special event: the upgrade of the movie theatre is completed, and apart from expectations of having my mind blown by what they have in store, I will further associate with fellow-astronomers. Here's more: http://www.astrolab.be/. Given half a chance, I intend to demonstrate my new R/C helicopter to give proof-of-concept that using several of those, in addition to helium-filled balloons, make it possible to mount a huge (and I mean multiple football-field size) convex lens, or a concave mirror way up high in the skies (and I mean several miles up). I ought to give the math involved (constant corrections for wind drift, etc.) more priority than writing this text, and that's what's next. Quote Live Search Maps January 24 life starts at age 40After the better part of the last two weeks, struggling with my main development PC, I'm finally out of the woods. Now I'm living the developer's dream: a quad core, 4GB RAM, 1Tera HD, and a quad core 2.9Ghz processor, with DVD-RW, 8 USB ports, a TV tuner which performs using Media Center, and the whole setup is better than my 'normal' TV + VCR + DVD player. So those I'll try and sell. As a software developer I am now finding myself surrounded by 2 powerful desktop PC's, one Acer laptop, a Palm Tungsten | E handheld, and a HP iPAQ1370 handheld. Plus two cameras. Even though I had to take a loan for the quad processor and its wide-screen Philips flat monitor, I still have money in the bank. What for? My brother was in the U.S. and brought home a R/C helicopter, a 'toy' I've been longing for since I was a kid. (I'm 43 now). So life, perhaps it's true, really does begin at 40. January 21 not a hard-core blogger, meI'm just filling this out as a starting point. You should probably know that I don't have the "blogger bug". But when I do have something to say/write, I promise you: you won't be wasting your time.
